What's in a Name?

 
Denali, also known as Mt. McKinley, 
is the name sake for our cattery

Our cattery name is Denalicoons, after Denali National & State Parks here in Alaska. Denali is an Athabaskan name for the highest mountain on the North American Continent (20,320 ft). Denali is the offical state name for the mountain but it is known to the rest of the world as Mt. McKinley. Attempts by the State to change the federal name of Mt. McKinley to Denali have been blocked by the congressional delegation from Ohio, late President McKinley's homestate.

A popular translation for Denali has been "The Great One" but really means "The High One".
